Gilles Estoppey is a jazz pianist and composer born in 1982 in Lausanne, Switzerland. He lives in Amsterdam since 2005, where he is studying with Belgian pianist Kris Goessens at the Amsterdam Conservatory and leading the project Amter, for which he plays acoustic piano and writes the music. Amter's debut album is now out on Dinemec Records.

Gilles is also regularly playing in Switzerland with his own trio (the Gilles Estoppey Trio). The album "Gilles Estoppey Trio live in vevey" was just released on Dinemec Records.

Gilles Estoppey has performed in the Netherlands with various artists, such as American singer Deborah Carter and the Millenium Jazz Orchestra conducted by Joan Reinders, Germano-Turkish singer Esra Dalfidan (winner of the Dutch Jazz Vocalist Competition 2007), Dutch french-hornist Morris Kliphuis, whom he accompanied for the Prinses Cristina Concours (Morris won the competition) and at the North Sea Jazz Festival 2007. Amter played in Switzerland with French violinist Didier Lockwood.

He just spent five months in New York City for an exchange semester at Purchase College. There he had lessons from pianists David Hazeltine and Jason Moran, saxophonist Jimmy Greene, and trumpeter Jon Faddis.
