His professional career began in 1976 by starting own bands playing his compositions. He worked also as a sideman in a lot of groups and played in several duo's, trio's, quartets and quintets as well as in big bands. He played with "The Band", duo van Rossum/van Kemenade, "Ed de Vos Prisma Orkest", "Palinckx & Palinckx", "Gemeentereinigingsorkest Vaalbleek" and "Vaalbleek Vokaal" by Niko Langenhuijsen, "Brevis", groups under own name: - trio/quartet/quintet/sextet -, several dance-projects, big bands, several projects with performers, poets and painters, "de Orkaan", with Bennink, Glerum, Mengelberg/Kühne, Wierbos and Bergin, "The Berlin Contemporary Jazz Orchestra", by Alexander von Schlippenbach with a.o. Awards: In 1984 he received the "Podium Prijs" of the S.J.I.N., -the Dutch Jazz Foundation. In 1998 he received the 'Jazz in Duketown Award 1998' in september 1999 the "Moderne Industriestad Prijs Tilburg-" and in january 2000 the "VPRO/Boy Edgar Prijs", an important award in the Netherlands for professional jazzmusicians. During 20 years ('79 - '99) he tought over hundreds of workshops throughout the whole country and for 5 years he led his workshoporchestra the "Brabants Leerorkest". He had his sextet for a few years and works in 1998 15 years with his own quintet which performed with brass bands, popgroups and different guest musicians from all around the world. He still teaches guest workshops and is living in Tilburg since 1974. For 7 years he was programmer of the jazzseries at the 'Theatre Festival Boulevard' in Den Bosch and since 1993 programmer and artistic leader of the 'Stranger than Pa-ra..noia' festival in 'Paradox' in Tilburg.
