Die Musiker:
Albert van Veenendaal (the Netherlands) studied at the Amsterdam
Conservatory. He works with Dutch and international jazz, worldmusic and
classical musicians. He established various groups and played solo concerts.
He composed for and played with theatre and dance companies and worked
as a composer/ arranger/ producer for Cd projects.
In 2001 he won the Dutch Jazz Competition with his trio On the Line. Recently
he composed for the woodwind quintet Calefax, he took part in a series
of literary concerts with famous Dutch writers and plays duo with Esmee
Olthuis.
From an open viewpoint and interaction with his fellow musicians he creates
musical constructions that are unconventional and intuitive.
Meinrad Kneer (Germany) operates mainly on the border region between
jazz, improvised music, ethnical music and modern composed music. Recent
projects/ensembles are the quartet/septet DALGOO, Bite the Gnatze, Gravitones
& Strings, Collision Palace, Vistar, Steven Kamperman's Labyrinth
and Gijs Levelt's Deep Fried Angel Fish.
He played with Fred Frith, Najma Akhtar, Paul Termos, Han Bennink, Michael
Vatcher, Tristan Honsinger, Jorrit Dijkstra, Tony Overwater, Tobias Delius,
Ab Baars and groups such as Barana & Co, Tetzepi, the AXYZ-Ensemble
and the Henneman string quartet. In 2002 he won the Jur Naessens Music
Prize.
Yonga Sun (Germany/Korea) recently obtained his Master's and was
nominated for the Talent Prize of the Academy for Arts in Arnhem. Besides
playing big band music with for example the Dutch Big-tet Tetzepi, he
plays improvised music in several collaborations with dancers and poets
and formed his own Drum 'n' Bass duo.
At the moment he is actively involved in various trio's such as Trio DNS
(with Rob van den Broeck & André Nendza) and Unfolding (with
Maurits Fondse & Phaedra Kwant). He played Oene van Geel, Robert Jan
Vermeulen, Eric van der Westen, Benjamin Herman, Arnold Dooyeweerd, Jasper
Blom and others.
