Norbert Scholly/Guit/Comp
Born in 1964 in Bardenberg, he first held a guitar at twelve years of age, later he played in different musical projects, amongst others in acoustic guitar duos.

He can look back on a formidable list of musicians with whom he has already worked. They are Larry Corryell, Bireli Lagrene, Peter Erskine, Benny Golson and WDR Big Band, amongst others.
In addition there have been radio and TV productions.

In 1985 he won the best soloist prize of the
EUROPEAN JAZZ COMPETITION.
CD releases with Danny Gottlieb, Olivier Peters, Ramesh Shotham round off his extensive work.

1994 tours Germany and Italy with Mark Abrams, Francesco Bearzotti and Frank Bambara
1995 appearance with his own quartet (preparing CD), Frankfurt Jazz Festival
1996 works with the WDR Big Band, productions with Benny Golson, Peter Erskine and Danny Gottlieb
1997 works teaching jazz guitar - Gutenberg University Mainz
1999 concert and recording in Madras (Southern India) and Bangalore for a WDR production with the project "Madras Special" (Ramesh Shothem, Jasper van´t Hof, Shankari Krishnan, Naresh Shotham, Zoltan Lantos and Jorgos Psirakis)
Romanian tour with Balkan Jazz Project "Nicolas Simeon Quartet" featuring Charly Mariano
2000 Goethe tour of central Asia
2002 Jazz-Art-Award as Electronic- performer with " BOX OF TOADS" and following appearance at Kopenhagen Jazz-Festival.

Studied at the Musikhochschule Cologne Member of the youth jazz orchestra of Rhineland-Palatinate, several foreign tours (USA, Malta, Uzbekistan). While studying worked with different bands, Gene "Mighty Flea" Connors, Ulla Osters "Beyond Janis", HEINZ, Georg Ruby, several record productions for Jazzhaus Musik Cologne
1991 moves to Berlin, own quartet with Wolfgang Köhler, Henning Sieverts and Ernst Bier

Member if the Franco-German Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Albert Mangelsdorff
Collaboration with the Berlin Contemporay Jazz Orchestra with Alexander von Schlippenbach, Evan Parker, Aki Takase, Ernst Ludwig Petrowski, collaboration with the double quartet "Double Dose" with Conny and Mathias Bauer

Last record production for Alex Merk Musik "Spiritual Standards" in a duo with Markus Burger has been in the German jazz charts since January `99.

Has already worked as a multi-instrumental professional (drums, guitar, piano and bass) since 1982
He has recorded a whole range of his own albums and worked with famous musicians such as Chet Baker, Randy Brecker, Joe Lovano or Herb Geller. At the moment his work with the trio "Der Rote Bereich" with Rudi Mahall and Frank Möbus is on everyone´s lips.
