Lothar Ohlmeier - bass clarinet, soprano sax Katrin Mickiewicz - violin Pieter-Jan Cramer - accordeon Stevko Busch - piano Edwin Wieringa - comp., double bass The Quinteto Azul, led by the Dutch bass player Edwin Wieringa, is mainly influenced by the "musique mediterannée". The tunes make us think of Italian movies, with a hint of Spanish temperament, frenchlike Chansons, Jewish Klezmer and moments of Tango. The repertoire of this Quintet has very refined nuances, without betraying the truthfulness of emotion. Recently Quinteto Azul invited polish singer/violinist Katrin Mickiewicz who adds an exiting eastern-european style to the programm. The homogeneity of their music is being carried by the convincing and individualistic interpretation of the players. The musicians - all exciting soloists, that have played in the classical and the improvised scenes - feel like fish in the waters of the mediterranian sea, performing this music between tradition and curious modernisme in a very lively way.
