Timuçin Sahin: electric & fretless guitars Oene van Geel: violin, viola Albert van Veenendaal: (prepared) piano On the Line proceeds upon paths where music is in the air. Take a deep breath, ears wide open and follow the road. This and a full measure of energy and craftmanship makes On the Line a unique trio. The result is that every time they play, their compositions sound fresh and organic. The three musicians are a perfect match with their focus on the thin line where music happens. About the music: strong melodic themes are alternated with dynamic improvisations which are closely related to the written material. Various western and non-western music styles and composition techniques are used. The rich timbre of this trio is explored inventively, moving freely between orchestral and intimate sounds. In turn the group members take care of the harmonic, melodic and rhythmical component. ON THE LINE: WINNERS DUTCH JAZZ COMPETITION 2001 Reggie Workman, chairman of the jury about On the LineŐs performance at July 12th in The Hague: "They had the kind of natural talent that carried their music, their thoughts and they were listening attentively to one another. They were leaving room for personal improvisation which allowed each musician to bring more to the beach besides sand. They balanced the improvisation component of their music with a very, very meticulously arranged presentation. We could see that they were enjoying themselves up there and the music projected that."
