Theo Jörgensmann - Bb-Clarinet Eckard Koltermann - Bassclarinet The Duo Jörgensmann/Koltermann is one of the most interesting occurences in the German Jazz- and improvising scene. It's a meeting of two congenial virtuosos of the clarinet. In their music the one exposes the originality of the other and at the same time searches for communication and finds it. One of the most characteristic features of their improvisations is the avangardistic aspect to structure musical time into zones of intensity and the sculpting of musical space. Expressive chambermusic emerges out of a jazzlike sentiment, where the elements of contemporary music, European composition and improvisation are being equally combined. This Duo was formed during the intensive collaboration of the two musicians/composers Jörgensmann and Koltermann in a variety of ensembles since the beginning of the eighties. Both were also founders of Georg Gräwes "Grubenklangorchester", they started up the clarinet quartet "CL-4" and for 13 years have played in the 14 piece "Contraband" of Willem van Manen (Holland). They have composed music for film, for the dance/theater piece "Garten" (choreography: Claudia Lichtblau) and for the WDR literature project "Wortmusik" of Herbert Somplatzki. The German Clarinetduo has perfomed at many international Festivals such as Nürnberg, Krakau, Konstanz and in important halls as the Alte Oper Frankfurt.
