NORDANIANS JUMP OK-klTHE NORDANIANS
OENE VAN GEEL - MARK TUINSTRA - NITI RANJAN BISWAS

A three-headed monster with the lightness of a ballerina. With great precision they play the most complex rhythms and intricate breaks. (...) Acrobatic trio's in an organic coherence.'

When Oene van Geel (viola), Mark Tuinstra (guitar) and Niti Ranjan Biswas (tabla virtuoso) played together for the first time there where immediately fireworks, roaring u-turns and cinematic tearjerkers.
Then they started writing songs together based on traditional raga's, smashing funk and delicate chambermusic. This gave them a great new impulse on stage for even more interaction and improvisation and made them build a rocking live reputation.
They love to play with the three of them but they also get inspired by playing with special guests from around the globe.

"The Nordanians make clear that serious music could also be fun." (John Kelman, All About Jazz)

Nestor (BY): excellent, you simply must add to your collection this new, profound and multi-faceted work. Jazzenzo (NL): Fugara is spot on, a monumental recording.

Anderson-Bennink-Glerum-Van Kemenade-klRAY ANDERSON - HAN BENNINK - ERNST GLERUM - PAUL VAN KEMENADE (US-NL)

The Guardian (UK): a contemporary jazz band to its fingertips, some of it suggested what a Charles Mingus group might have become but no retro. LondonJazz (UK): This ensemble has a natural ability to vary the pace, and swing from one gear to another in the blink of an eye. Jazztimes (US): a great band led by fine Dutch alto saxophonist Van Kemenade. Ruhrnachrichten ( DE): One of the highlights of the Berlin jazzFest.

CONTEMPLATION

StevkoPaulByGeertMaciewski-klSTEVKO BUSCH - PAUL VAN KEMENADE (D-NL)

Jazzrytmit (FI): the duet’s playing is purposeful and effective. Van Kemenade’s alto saxophone plays keenly and beautifully, brilliantly linked to Busch’s subtle piano playing, integrating South African rhythms with the liturgical melodies of Russian Orthodox Church. Süddeutsche Zeitung (DE): moments of creative intimacy enthralled audiences. JazzPodium (NL): heartfelt, delightful, a great intensity that almost feels religious.
